Jonathan A. Weiss, PhD, Associate Professor, York University, Department of Department of Psychology
Bio: Dr. Jonathan Weiss, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at York University and a Clinical Psychologist, who leads the Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health lab (http://ddmh.lab.yorku.ca; @DrJonathanWeiss on Twitter). His research focuses on the prevention and treatment of mental health problems in people with autism or intellectual disabilities. He studies the impact of stressors, such as bullying or transitions, and how cognitive behaviour therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, and recreation and leisure can help people with developmental disabilities gain and maintain good mental health. He was awarded the Chair in Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research in partnership with Health Canada, Autism Speaks Canada, Kids Brain Health Network, Sinneave Family Foundation, and the Canadian ASD Alliance.
