Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) is a partnership between the Canadian Association of Community Living (CACL) and the Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorder Alliance (CASDA), funding by the Government of Canada.
RWA is designed to increase employment of people with developmental disabilities focusing on people with intellectual disabilities and people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and thereby contribute to advancing economic productivity and social inclusion in Canada. Scaling up best practices and innovations and tapping leadership, RWA is designed to:
- Engage and support employers (local and national-scale) to hire people with intellectual disabilities or ASD;
- Promote awareness among employers and the general public about the value of hiring people with intellectual disabilities or ASD;
- Enhance capacities of the community employment supports delivery system to enable transitions to employment, and be the effective bridge-builders that small, medium and large-scale employers need.
With national-scale corporate employers on board, RWA creates job opportunities at the local level for people with intellectual disabilities or ASD and aligns community capacity to respond to employer demand.
