On March 11, CASDA made the decision to postpone the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit from April 20-21 to October 5-6, 2020.
After consulting with many of you and listening to public health experts, we have made the difficult decision to move the October 5 and 6th Summit to a virtual platform.
Many of us look forward to attending the Summit all year. The in-person connection is special and the disappointment of not being able to meet together in Ottawa is shared.
The Planning Committee is spending a lot of time brainstorming ways to make a Virtual Summit an experience to remember. We are working on creative ways to deliver a virtual experience that allows us to connect as a community. The Virtual Summit will be way better than a regular video call and will include poster presentations, discussion groups and networking rooms. We aim to host dynamic discussions that will guide the continuing development of the National Autism Strategy and our partnership with the federal government.
We are looking at whether it will be possible to have regional “watch parties” to support community engagement across Canada. We will share more information in the fall, when we have a better sense of what can be safely offered.
We will send out more information in the coming weeks. Thank you for continuing with us on this journey!
