Since 2007, CASDA has been committed to raising awareness on the critical gaps in funding and policies which continue to prevent Autistic Canadians and their families from exercising their equal rights as Canadians. Today, we stand as a coalition guiding the development of a National Autism Strategy.
With many successes in coordinating national conversations about autism, we now look forward to the next phase of our mission. As a credible civil society partner to the federal government, our priority is to pool our expertise to inform the creation and implementation of a National Autism Strategy. Our Strategic Plan is as relevant as ever and we continue to stand in our belief that all Autistic Canadians should have full and equal access to the resources they require to achieve their full potential.
In the development of autism-related policies and processes, we are your convener and your incubator of innovative ideas. We lead by working together to foster consensus, pilot innovation, and bring forward emerging practices from you, our members, to the federal government. As we press forward with our advocacy for a robust National Autism Strategy, we must consider that autism spans across a variety of topics when it comes to government policies. As such, is it imperative that we unite our voices to bring a diversity of expertise and experiences towards a national shared leadership movement.
We invite you to add your voice to CASDA by joining us as a new or returning member today.
We have revised and simplified our membership structure to prioritize access and inclusion. There are two types of paid memberships that are available to Canadian organizations and individuals:
- Organization Membership
- Community Membership.
Both Organization and Community membership types have voting privileges and are eligible to join our Board of Directors, which will include at least 5 members from each of these membership categories.
The third type is the Associate Membership, which is free and non-voting. Associate members are welcome to participate in CASDA-related activities and will receive our newsletters. At the upcoming Annual General Meeting this April, our current members will be asked to vote on these changes. We invite all Organization and Community members to encourage their staff, peers, colleagues, and friends to sign-up as Associate members, so that they can also stay abreast of CASDA’s latest developments.
In the coming weeks, we will be announcing a variety of events, project outcomes, and opportunities for you to interact with CASDA’s community and knowledge base. We cannot wait to share our progress with you!
We look forward to welcoming you as an Organization, Community, or Associate member. If you would like to learn more about the recent happenings at CASDA, our podcast series is a great place to get started.
