Every year, CASDA hosts an annual conference, the Canadian Autism Leadership Summit (CALS). On October 6, 2021, CALS2021 welcomed over 250 participants and presenters ranging from self-advocates, families, researchers, service providers, to government officials.
The driving force behind our success year in and year out is our dedicated Summit Planning Committee. With the 8th Annual Canadian Autism Leadership Summit (CALS2022) coming up on April 4 and 5, 2022, CASDA is looking for new members to join the committee in support of next year’s conference. We look forward to new members who can continue bringing creative ideas to the group. We are hoping to host CALS2022 through through a hybrid virtual and in-person delivery model to further our legacy as an innovative, collaborative and pivotal conference for Autistic people, their families, and those that support them.
As a committee member, you will have several important responsibilities, such as:
- Identifying Supporters
- Effectively communicating with participants, supporters and speakers
- Supporting the planning of logistical elements (including the venue, accommodations etc.)
- Determining the agenda
- Ensuring that CALS2022 is Autistic-friendly
Please consider the committee member responsibilities before deciding whether or not to accept this invitation, as the success of the committee depends on the full commitment of every committee member. The time commitment for the Summit 2022 Planning Committee is approximately 5-10 hours per month (including weekly 1-hour long meetings on Wednesdays from 1PM-2PM (EST)), with a slight increase in activity and coordination expected in March 2022.
In selecting members to join the committee, CASDA will be giving priority to Autistic perspectives as we aim to amplify and center Autistic perspectives at CALS2022.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org by November 10th, 2021 with a paragraph (200 words max) about why you are interested and what skills you bring to the group. We look forward to working with you to make CALS 2022 the best yet!
