The Canadian Autism Spectrum Disorder Alliance (CASDA) is an alliance dedicated to improving health and wellbeing of autistic Canadians and their families. We take that mandate seriously and it is our highest priority to protect the health and wellbeing of our community, our members, local Ottawa residents and all those who support CASDA.
After a public health risk assessment and careful deliberations, the evolving situation with COVID-19 has led us to reach the decision to postpone CASDA’s 6th annual Canadian Autism Leadership Summit that was planned for April 20-21, 2020 in Ottawa.
We are planning to reschedule Summit 2020 to a date later this year.
While disappointing to our vibrant community of CASDA members and supporters, we believe this decision was unavoidable, and the right decision to make.
Travel bursaries for self-advocates and registration of all participants will be carried over to the new date. If there is an issue or if you would like a full refund of your registration, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. For those that have booked travel plans, we hope that recent changes in airline and accommodation policies allow for a smooth transition to the new date.
Meanwhile, we plan to hold virtual updates around developments in the National Autism Strategy with the government, available for all conference registrants, potentially on the same dates in April. But the outstanding work of Summit presenters and participants from across the country will be presented in-person later this year. Stay tuned for more information!
We want to close with a note of gratitude. We are grateful for the outstanding dedication of our colleagues who are working tirelessly to understand this novel virus, to care for those who have been exposed or affected, to identify viable solutions, and to keep Canadians informed with the most up to date and accurate information possible.
